Ultrasound therapy could prevent osteoarthritis
If you’ve injured a joint after a fall or exercise, you might want to try a few sessions of non-invasive ultrasound. The therapy, which is widely available at physiotherapy clinics, can prevent the development of osteoarthritis, a new study has found.
Researchers at the University of Alabama in Huntsville found that continuous low-intensity ultrasound (LICUS) therapy can reduce inflammatory markers by 50 percent and limit cartilage damage and bone loss after a joint injury.
